Strengthening Regional Partnership

The Malaysian Prison Department was honoured to welcome a delegation from the Philippine Public Safety Academy for an official study visit held from 10th to 18th May 2026.

The delegation, comprising 30 cadets, was led by Ms Maricellia L. ANTONIO, DEAN of the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA), and assisted by MR RAMON CHICO REVILLA, Jail Chief Inspector from BJMP, also Commandant of Cadets, PPSA, and Ms Leilani Banotan from BJMP as course director at the PPSA. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and provide exposure to the best practices implemented by the Malaysian Prison Department in prison management, security administration, inmate rehabilitation, vocational training, and community reintegration programmes.

Throughout the programme, the cadets had the opportunity to visit several prisons and correctional institutions, engage in knowledge-sharing sessions with Malaysian prison officers, and observe various rehabilitation initiatives that support the transformation and reintegration of inmates into society.

The Malaysian Prison Department highly appreciates the interest shown by PPSA in learning and exchanging professional experiences in the field of correctional management. This meaningful engagement reflects the strong commitment of both institutions towards enhancing professionalism, leadership, and excellence in public safety and correctional services.

It is hoped that this study visit will further strengthen the longstanding friendship and strategic collaboration between Malaysia and the Philippines, particularly in the areas of corrections, rehabilitation, and public security development.
