The 14-point star symbolises the 13 states and the federal government. The star, together with the crescent, represents Islam, the official religion of Malaysia.
The crossed keys symbolise the power and responsibility entrusted to the department to carry out its duties.
The paddy flowers symbolise the close-knit unity and cooperation of the multiracial personnel at all levels.
The green background is the official colour of the Prisons Department and loyalty to the head.

Motto





SINCERE & DUTIFUL : We, at the Prisons Department of Malaysia, carry out our duties to uphold the country’s criminal justice system and fulfil the trust of the people to rehabilitate offenders with full responsibility, in service of the people and the nation.
THE COLOUR GREEN : The corporate colour of the department which symbolises the goal of the department in rehabilitating a citizen who has morally fallen to become a productive person and return him to society as a useful citizen who will then fulfil his obligations to society.
SKETCH OF HEART AND HAND : Symbolises society’s commitment to accept the former prisoners within its fold without any prejudice which would adversely affect the rehabilitation programme of the department.
